Welcome to my website, I am a contemporary Printmaker. Although I enjoy wood engraving, and also woodblock printing, my principal medium is that of linocut. I have now been lino printing for over twenty five years. I have been very fortunate over the years to work with a number of specialist printmakers each of who have had their own style of working. They have all influenced my work one way or another, and not least through the varying techniques they have employed to express their creativity.
Only since moving to the northern Lake District have I had the luxury of having my own studio. I had it purposely built. Although for many years I printed without a press I now feel so lucky to have bought a lovely Albion Press which dates from 1846. It is a fine piece of antique engineering in itself and a pleasure to use.
From my studio, which looks out on to the northern Pennines, I develop my prints. My inspiration can come from walks in the local countryside or from much further afield when we go off on our jaunts exploring the coast and countryside around Britain. In spite of living in some beautiful rural places I still feel very drawn to the sea and the coast. Our visits take us up to Scotland, across to North Yorkshire, Northumberland, down to Norfolk – indeed wherever the fancy takes us! Whilst some of my prints are of recognisable places, others are intended to be more atmospheric.
I exhibit and sell my prints in a number of galleries throughout the UK as well as being involved in exhibitions locally and nationally. My lino prints are in private collections in the UK and abroad.
My current prints are all originals produced by hand in limited editions. Should you wish to purchase any of my prints, or discuss my work further, please feel free to contact me.
